This 3-day workshop offers an introduction to the beautiful art of Indian, Mughal and Persian miniature painting. You'll get the chance to get comfortable with your tools and immerse yourself in the process of creating an artwork no bigger than A4, from start to finish, using an image from a selection of flora and fauna provided by us. Bring your own packed lunch for our 30-minute lunch break; refreshments will be provided.
By the end of the course, you will learn how to:
-
Prepare your ground and transfer your image
-
Use your brush and draw with soot
-
Prepare your colour palette
-
Paint your chosen image
-
Use a finishing technique called Pardakht (stippling)
-
Bonus if time allows: learn how to draw a border using gold, black and sepia lines
All materials will be provided and shared amongst students.
Link to images of work demonstrating what students can expect to create.
